Sitting beside the emerald shores of Lake Annecy. Helicopters hovering above filming what is happening below. Excitement is tingling the air. Around the corner comes the Peleton. The atmosphere is intoxicating. The Polka dot jersey leads the pack, wearing it full of pride is Pierre Rolland. Mark Cavendish is on his left wearing British Champions jersey, with a small Union jack on his shorts, Richie Porte ‘the rock’ of the sky team, Colourful BMC is Tejay van Garderen who was second on the mighty mind-blowing Alpe d’Huez stage and next to Mark Cavendish is Marcel Kittel who won the final Paris stage.

To see the start of  Stage 20 at Annecy and see these amazing cyclists who battle each day for three weeks is inspirational to an artist and all I wanted to do was put paint to paper to create a memory.

Ladies Lunch Italian Style

Ladies Lunch Italian Style
Ladies Lunch Italian Style

Imagine a tiny village  situated on the edge of a Lake, with a ferry calling in every few hours and a couple of cafes on the lake edge. The cafe owner brings your cool drink across a quite street with a few aperitifs to enjoy. You sit back and enjoy the lazy day and watch a few passers go by. A handful of Ladies choose a table  in the shade, and began to chatter while prosecco’s  are passed around. This special little hamlet is called Riva di Solta on Lake Iseo and this is what inspired me to paint ‘Ladies Lunch Italian Style.

‘Ladies Lunch’ is available as a print

Walk to Watendlath

Walk to Watendlath
Walk to Watendlath

The walk to Watendlath is one of pure joy, I start from the village of Rosenthwaite and make my way up the beautiful fell passing bubbling brooks, turning and admiring the view towards Seathwaite and the mighty fells of Glaramara and Great end. The path then descends down to the small hamlet of Watendlath with intimate glimpses of a Blue tarn with fishermen catching trout. A cup of tea and a slice of the famous Gingerbread baked in the tea room follow.

I stop at the gate post and take in this peaceful special place.
