I love painting Derwentwater, and think it is possibly the most beautiful lake in the English Lake District. It is totally unspoilt with five small Islands, one aptly named Derwent Island owned by the national trust. I painted this original watercolour at dusk. A still lake catching warm winter sunlight with just the sounds of geese making their evening flights.
